Even with Cyclone Alfred threatening Brisbane, the Australian Hospitality & Gaming Expo (AHG Expo) 2025 proved to be an invaluable opportunity for our team to connect face-to-face with Queensland's hospitality, sports club and gaming community.

As first-time exhibitors, we stepped into the event with a mix of excitement and uncertainty. But after two days of meaningful conversations and connections, we are already marking our calendars for next year's edition.

Braving the elements

When news of the bad weather coincided with our exhibition dates, we will admit there was some nervous anticipation among our team. Would attendees still make the journey? Would the event proceed as planned? The resilience of the Queensland community quickly put those concerns to rest.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the AHG Expo organisers who managed the situation with remarkable professionalism and communications, ensuring the event ran smoothly. Their commitment to safety while still delivering an outstanding expo experience deserves special recognition.

Connecting with Queensland's diverse hospitality community

Over the two-day event, our booth (#191) became a hub of activity as we engaged with more than 100 attendees from sports clubs, community clubs, hotels and gaming companies across Queensland. We are grateful for the opportunity to understand the various pain points affecting different segments of the industry.

Several key themes emerged consistently during our conversations:

  • Operational continuity: Ensuring their technology systems run smoothly without interruption was a top priority for virtually every establishment we spoke with. Even minor downtime can significantly impact member satisfaction and revenue.
  • Cyber security concerns: Nearly everyone expressed worries about cyber threats and rightfully so given the sensitive member data and financial information these businesses handle. However, many weren't sure exactly what steps to take to properly protect themselves beyond basic measures.
  • Member engagement: Keeping members connected and happy through reliable technology was another common focus. From wifi access to digital sign-in systems, technology plays an increasingly central role in member satisfaction.
The road ahead for the sector

For the hospitality, sports club and gaming sector, robust IT and cyber security isn't just about preventing problems – it is about enabling better service. When clubs can rely on their systems to function smoothly, they can focus on what truly matters: creating exceptional experiences for their members.

We are optimistic about the opportunity to help these businesses strengthen their tech infrastructure and enhance their cyber security posture.

With over two decades of experience supporting Australian businesses, we understand the unique challenges facing this industry. From securing point-of-sale systems to ensuring gaming machine compliance, our team is equipped to provide tailored solutions that address specific industry needs.

Building a more secure future together

The conversations at AHG Expo 2025 reinforced our commitment to helping Queensland clubs navigate the increasingly complex digital landscape. By elevating IT standards and implementing robust cyber security measures, these establishments can better protect both their operations and their members' data.

Technology should empower, not overwhelm. Netway's approach focuses on demystifying complex IT concepts and providing practical, accessible solutions that align with each club's unique circumstances and budget constraints.

We invite anyone who didn't get a chance to speak with us at the expo – or those who would like to continue our conversations – to reach out. Our team is always available for a no-strings-attached chat about your IT needs and cyber security concerns.
